SANITISING TUNNELS: BEWARE OF THE BIG BAD WET WOLF OUT THERE …

The market has all of sudden spawned a flood of tunnel ‘experts’ with every Tom Dick and Sally producing units for the market (which is their right and well respected).

A major corporate has just bought 20 units that hardly work – hardly any aerolisation present inside the tunnel!!

Bear the following in mind when considering a cheaper option than ours:

  1. If the tunnel is too narrow (less than 2m wide) you will experience condensation issues which will significantly raise the cost of your sanitizer/disinfectant usage
  2. If the pump is not at least 70bar the water droplets emanating out of the nozzles will be too large and will wet the air, as well as any person entering it as well
  3. If the nozzles are not of sufficient quality they will clog over time and damage the pump
  4. If the system does not provide for a least a 100L sanitising/disinfectant holding tank then you can be sure the tunnel manufacturer has not provided for a diluted formula
  5. Check the web site of the supplier for any previous experience of misting and/or humidification and more importantly for how long?
  6. Does the website and/or brochure show disinfectant/sanitiser consumption levels?
  7. Does the system come with a guarantee – we give a 2 year warranty on our humidification pump?
  8. If the tunnel is in kit form is there any technical back-up support offered (call centre, etc)?
  9. Do the suppliers recommend any sanitisers and/or disinfectants and do they have any material safety data sheets available?
  10. If you consider the tunnel as an asset then treat it as you would any other major asset you would purchase – research the market and do not be taken in by price alone
